Brian Steel is not your typical leadership speaker. A former military officer and combat pilot with 31 years of service across the RAF, British Army and Royal Australian Navy, Brian has led in conditions where the cost of failure is measured in lives — from counter-terrorism operations in Northern Ireland to anti-tank helicopter missions in the first Gulf War.
That crucible of high-stakes command — where clarity, emotional intelligence and decisive action are non-negotiable — is the foundation of everything Brian brings to the Stage.

Brian holds a Master's Degree in Leadership and Management and is an IECL Level 2 accredited executive coach. He has spoken for TEC (The Executive Connection) CEO groups and has designed and delivered leadership programmes at every level of an organisation — most notably as Global Head of Training and Development for the Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, where he developed and led leadership training for restaurant managers, head chefs and head office executives across the group's international portfolio.

That corporate training chapter sits at the intersection of Brian's two worlds. Alongside his military career, he has built a parallel reputation as a restaurant critic, industry judge and consultant — backed by a Cordon Bleu Master's Degree in Gastronomy and a WSET Level 3 Sake qualification, making him one of Australia's most credentialled Sake specialists. His consulting work spans global brands including Breville, Merisant and Lion.

The thread connecting all of it is leadership: how individuals perform under pressure, how teams cohere around a shared standard, and how organisations build cultures that people choose to stay in.

Brian Steel doesn't just talk about leadership. He has lived it at altitude, under fire, and at every level of the corporate and hospitality world.
